1000 Km Club

Skiing 1000 km in a season is a testament to dedication to the sport. Every season we have members who strive to reach that 'magic' number. Weather, injury and other commitments can make it difficult, but we congratulate all those who achieve the goal, as well as those who attempt it.

The 1000 Kilometre Challenge started in 1984 when classic skiing was the only way to ski cross country.  The trails had no lights and were not as well groomed as they are today. Equipment was not as good either.  In 1984 only 9 people skied 1000 kms or more.

In 1998 we had better trails with better grooming, a long winter season and skate skiing technique too. That year is the record for the most skiers to reach 1000 or more with 55 club members reaching the goal.

For the 2019-2020 ski season, 29 avid skiers have reached the magic number. Nine of them also skied 1000 back in 1998.

Ten young racers skied over 500 which is our cut-off for the PSR history books. Pretty impressive team! 1000 km pins were distributed at the Annual General Meeting.

Thanks to everyone who participated!
