OFSAA XC Ski Championships

This year Porcupine Ski Runners will be the host site for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Provincial XC Skiing Championships.

The number of participants could be in excess six hundred, and for this reason it is absolutely necessary for the safety of our members and the high school athletes to close the parking lot, chalet (including lockers) and all interior trails (both cross country and snowshoe trails) to our members on Monday February 27, Tuesday February 28 and Wednesday March 1, 2017.

Trails will reopen after the completion of team sprint relays on the afternoon of Wednesday March 1 , 2017.  It is difficult to predict exactly when the sprint relays will be concluded on Wednesday as it depends on factors beyond our control such as weather,  but we are hopeful that the trails may be reopened by 4:00 pm. All trails may not  be tracked when reopened on Wednesday, again depending on weather.

The Olympic trail, on the other side of Brundy Ave in Schumacher, will be available all days and can be accessed by parking along the end of Brundy Ave.

We encourage members to come out and watch the event, but note that there is no on-site parking available.  There will be parking available at the McIntyre community centre in Schumacher with a bus shuttle running to PSR.

This is a major undertaking for our club that is expected to generate significant financial benefit for our community, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
